Exfoliating the skin is an important part of skin care. This is necessary to do, especially in the spring when you want to reveal a fresh and glowing complexion.
To begin with, choose the right scrub. There are basically two main types of peels. The first is physical exfoliation, using granules or particles to physically remove dead skin cells. The second is chemical peeling, where acids or enzymes are used to dissolve dead skin cells. Choose a scrub that suits your skin type. It is best to consult an expert.
Before peeling, you must clean the skin. Wash your face with a mild cleanser to remove dirt and excess oil. Then dry the skin by gently rubbing with a clean cloth.
Apply an exfoliant. If using a physical exfoliator, apply a small amount to wet skin and gently massage in circular motions. If using a chemical peel, follow the product's instructions on how to apply it. Being gentle is a must. Avoid too much pressure when exfoliating, especially if you have sensitive skin. Too much pressure on the skin can irritate it and cause damage.
Then, you must rinse your face thoroughly. After exfoliating for the recommended time, usually 30–60 seconds, rinse your face thoroughly with lukewarm water to remove the exfoliant.
After exfoliating, apply a moisturizer to hydrate the skin. This helps to maintain skin moisture and prevent dryness. How often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and the product you use. For most people, exfoliating once to three times a week is enough.
It is important to note that excessive exfoliation or the use of harsh exfoliants can damage the skin's protective barrier. If you have any skin conditions or problems, it is best to consult a dermatologist before starting a new exfoliation routine.
