Sauna as a good choice for relaxation

One of the best methods of relaxation is the sauna. This ancient practice of relaxing the body and mind has been around for centuries and is perhaps the oldest method of detoxifying the body. In addition to activating the skin to expel harmful substances from the body, the sauna is highly soothing and helps restore balance to the body.

The Finnish sauna, practiced for more than a millennium, gained worldwide popularity only in the last century. Finns favor saunas not only due to the cold weather but also because of the stress-reducing and detoxifying effects it offers. It is suitable for most individuals, excluding small children, babies, and those with serious health issues such as heart disease or open wounds.

In a Finnish sauna, temperatures range from 70 to 100 °C, with humidity achieved by pouring water on hot stones. Traditionally, Finns consider saunas essential for making important decisions and connecting with loved ones.

The Finnish sauna provides numerous benefits to the body:

  • Strong detoxification effect: The sauna stimulates sweating and encourages the skin to expel harmful substances accumulated from food, cosmetics, and environmental pollution.

  • Anti-stress effect on the mind: By promoting relaxation and easing tension in the body, the sauna helps individuals cope with daily stressors and encourages digestion and healing.

  • Balances hormones: By reducing stress hormones like cortisol, the Finnish sauna helps balance other hormones and stimulates the adrenal glands to secrete aldosterone, regulating electrolytes.

  • Aids in muscle pain relief: Especially recommended for athletes, the sauna relaxes muscles and aids in faster recovery from injuries and strains.

  • Reduces susceptibility to flu and colds: Regular sauna use has been shown to reduce the incidence of colds and flu by up to 30%.

  • Improves circulation and skin appearance: Improved circulation ensures that every cell in the body receives necessary nutrients and oxygen, resulting in healthier-looking skin.
