Old and new paradigms

When we say 'world view,' we mean the term that explains all the events in the world and the happenings in us and around us. To make it clearer, I will present it in a more graphic way. For thousands of years, people believed that the sun revolved around the earth, so it was accepted as reality. Until the middle of the second millennium, no one thought that it could all be different. And then Copernicus appears. He offered a completely opposite vision: the Earth revolves around the Sun. Although today we all know this to be the truth that new approach could not easily enter people's minds. What is important in this case is that this big change in the worldview, that is, in the worldview, did not come about because something was changed in the natural flows. The motion of the planets is essentially unchanged. The change occurred due to a new and different interpretation of the existing reality.

The usual term for such upheavals is the creation of new paradigms, which encompass structural models, examples, or patterns. Under that term, Thomas Samuel Kuhn, in the paper "Structure of Scientific Revolutions," means a set of thoughts, truths, and values. A special view of reality, that is, of the worldview, provides a basis for understanding separate scientific disciplines. Once the accepted paradigm is rarely called into question, phenomena occur over time that cannot be explained by the existing worldview. And so, new knowledge constantly undermines the existing paradigm, which becomes less and less suitable for explaining the reality that surrounds us.

In that direction, similar to the paradigms in science, we may be able to notice them in ourselves. Throughout life, we learn and gather experience, which means we adopt a pattern of thinking. It's a kind of paradigm. But over time, the conditions in the environment change, and this may mean that some of our paradigms do not offer solutions. If we think about and look for such limiting paradigms in ourselves, and if we replace them with new ones adapted to the new conditions, it could lead to personal growth and positive change.
