A bird's eye view

The ways in which he solved problems made King Solomon famous in the era in which he lived. His ability to listen to the problems of others and offer a sensible, best solution was widely known. Despite his fame for sound judgment, according to some accounts, Solomon struggled greatly when it came to making personal decisions. Thus, in addition to his wise decisions, he was also remembered as a ruler who infallibly knew how to offer others a solution to their problems. However, he could not and did not know how to help himself.

People often find it easier to solve other people's problems than their own. The only explanation lies in psychological distance: when you distance yourself from the problem, you are better at making sensible decisions. Perhaps it would be helpful, if we desire to make positive changes, to approach our own lives as if they were characters in a movie. Let's take a step back and distance ourselves from prejudices and fears. Let's do research and rely only on facts.
